I am not ashamed...
- I am not ashamed to be different .
- I am not ashamed to be short.
- I am not ashamed that my eyes are larger than yours are. Who cares.
- I am not ashamed to be a woman.
- I am not ashamed that I cry and sometimes find myself extremely emotional. I spent too many years shut down and disassociated from the world and I've learned that crying is better than feeling nothing.
- I am not ashamed that I never gave myself away at the age of 13 like most of the girls around me, and was the laughing stock of my grade 8 class at parties and labelled "the girl who would die a virgin".
- I am not ashamed to be 20 years old, and still wear my purity ring proudly, keeping my promise to both myself and God.
- I am not ashamed that when I visit the city for a weekend, my planning revolves around squeezing things in around Friday night church, and Sunday morning church. And not because I think God takes attendance or that I need to go, but because church is where I truly feel happy and spiritually uplifted.
- I am not ashamed to be straight, while I support my wonderful LGBTQ friends and family.
- I am not ashamed of my anxiety and other personal traits.
- I am not ashamed of my family, no matter how crazy we are at times.
- I am not ashamed to admit that I own like 8 Pokemon games for my DS, I am obsessed with Dr. Who, I play Clash of Clans, and I'm a total nerdball.
- I am not ashamed that one weekend a year, I like to escape the reality of this world, dress up in silly costumes, and spend a whole weekend at a Sci-Fi convention.
- I am not ashamed that I was probably much older than the rest of you before I stopped playing with my polly pockets and brat dolls. My best friend and I spent many days lining up our polly pockets and laughing over make believe worlds.
- I am not ashamed that I spent many summers going to bingo with my nanny, because we had a great time bonding, and spending time together.
- I am not ashamed that I just don't fit the mold of society, and that I clearly don't fit in.
- I am not ashamed that I don't meet YOUR expectations of me; The only person who's expectations I am concerned about are my own, and God's.
- I am not ashamed that I don't fit your idea of the world normal, because what even IS normal anymore?
- I am not ashamed that as a musician, and someone who wants to succeed as much as the next person, I refuse to write songs about sex and get naked to make it.
- I am not ashamed to tell you straight up, that while I may write and sing for fun, I have as many beautiful Christian songs written as I do mainstream and I wouldn't have it any other way.
- I am not ashamed that I spent at least 5 summers at Bible Camp where God changed my life.
- I am not ashamed to say that most of my closest friends are the ones I met through Church and camp.
- I am not ashamed of my friends who don't share the same beliefs as me. Not everyone is the same.
- I am not ashamed that I don't feel the need to get drunk and high every weekend in order to have fun.
- I am not ashamed to know that my life belongs to Jesus, and that without him, I would have nothing, and be nothing.
- I am not ashamed to be in this world, but set apart from this world.
- I am not ashamed that most of you don't like me because I'm different. Because you know what? The day I learned to love myself despite what the world around me thought, was the day I never felt ashamed anymore.
